Art is an easy way to differentiate your space from someone else's. It speaks about the things that are personal and unique to you. Not only does art on the walls allow you to express your personality, but you'll also feel much more at home than if you left them blank.

When people decorate their homes, wall art is often one of those things that is often treated as an afterthought. It’s not that people don’t like wall art, it’s usually just because they find other things important. The thing is, wall art gives you an amazing design opportunity. In fact, when carefully selected, the right wall art can elevate the room to a whole new level. But how do you know what constitutes the “right” kind of wall art? That’s what we’re here to help you with today. Use this post as a guide to learn more about why wall art is so important and how to choose pieces that will blend well with your existing décor.

Wall art provides an instant color palette.

Having trouble figuring out what colors you want to use in your home? A piece of wall art you love is a great way to narrow down the possibilities, making it easier to find colors that best fit the vision you have for your home’s interior. Picking out paint chips can be fun for some people, but for many others, it’s a daunting task they’d rather avoid. This is why we suggest you construct a palette around a piece of artwork instead. That single piece of wall art can inspire you in ways you never knew!

If you’ve found a piece of wall art you really like, pick two or three shades you’d appreciate having in your decor. Make one of those the dominant color and the others your secondary colors. As you shop for decor, simply look for items in those colors and you’ll be all set.

Wall art creates a focal point.

Basic design 101 states that every room needs a focal point that will draw the eye into the space. Fireplaces, windows, and other architectural features are all excellent focal points, but a great piece of wall art can easily fulfill this position.

Why not enhance the look of your already beautiful fireplace by placing a great print or painting above it? What about over your bed in the master suite? You could even create a gallery wall in your hallway, living room, or dining room.

When choosing a piece of wall art to be a focal point, it’s all about size. And the size you choose will depend on the other items in the space as well as the available amount of wall space. A good rule of thumb is to take measurements so you know exactly how much room you have to work with.

Wall art brings in texture.

Texture is another important element of design. To really bring in a variety of texture, look for or create art in different mediums. This extra texture can really increase the visual weight of the interior, which can influence the tone or feel of the room.

Paintings and prints can certainly provide texture, but it doesn’t stop there. Wall sculptures and shadow boxes are other great ways to add depth to the room. Mixed media installations that include screens and digital art are two other interesting ways to bring in texture through art.

As you choose your wall art, keep in mind that rough textures tend to make the space feel warm and intimate while smooth textures offer a look that’s cool and sleek.

Wall art rounds off the design.

Wall art can really help make a room appear finished. Spaces that are stark in color or rough around the edges can really look like they missed the mark. Wall art is the finishing element that can make your space feel complete.

Wall art personalizes your space.

Above all else, wall art gives you the chance to personalize your home in a way unlike anything else. Art is an easy way to differentiate your space from someone else’s. It speaks about the things that are personal and unique to you. Not only does art on the walls allow you to express your personality, but you’ll also feel much more at home than if you left them blank.

Images can be used effectively as a communication tool to attract attention and reinforce the message, and, in combination with thoughtful layout design and branded design elements, the right imagery helps to make designs more compelling and engaging.

The Importance of Decorating Your Home With Pictures

In today's fast-paced world, our home is our sanctuary, a space where we can disconnect from the outside world and unwind. Decorating your home with personalised décor can bring a sense of comfort and familiarity, making it feel more welcoming and lived-in. This is especially important for the expat community, some of whom are far away from loved ones.
A gallery wall with pictures of family or personal pictures is a great way to personalise your space while adding character and warmth to your home.
Photos capture a moment in time and create a timeline of memories, recording different stages of your history. These photos also allow you to share your story with your visitors when they see your photos. A gallery wall with your memorable photos can spark happy and uplifting memories, making your home a happy and special place.
Furthermore, minimalistic, classic frames add instant value to a room. A gallery wall can create a focal point, making it more attractive and intriguing. You'll be surprised by the warmth and character this simple addition can add to your home.

We live in a world where everyone has endless access to a camera, and pictures are constantly being taken. But does that mean we appreciate pictures anymore? Are we doing pictures right?

Pictures show us our past
Of course, pictures remain as important as ever, but we need to make sure we're not only doing them but also doing right by them.

Printed pictures are significant as they allow us to capture a particular moment in time and preserve it for generations to come. So we can relive the wonderful memory or experience again and again. Even more, printed pictures are shared easily with others and authenticate our essential past.

Alas, the unfortunate reality of life is that it passes us by way too quickly. Worse yet, we often don’t realize it before it’s too late. One day you're bringing your precious little one home from the hospital, and the next thing you know, you wake up to that “child” begging you to borrow the car to visit their significant other one last time before parting ways for college.
Pictures are a way to capture – by freezing in time- these moments we can’t hold on to but would like to re-live again and again. Moments such as a baby’s first steps, infancy – childhood in general, the first day of school all the way through college graduation, weddings, anniversaries, landmark birthdays, homecomings, etc., the list goes on.
However, with that being said, truth be told, our captured memories are only as valuable as how we choose to preserve them. Pictures offer us a great way to preserve our special memories, but we must do it right.
If not, our cherished moments - that we thought would last generations – could disappear in the blink of an eye with one quick lightning strike or misplaced magnet.
That is why the best way to preserve photographs is, in fact, in print form in a high-quality album. Photo albums and photo books today come in a wide variety of grades, collections, and materials, so you can be sure to get precisely what you’re looking for and that it will last more than a lifetime.
If that weren’t enough, some of the leading album makers and printing labs offer a lifetime warranty on printed-related and manufacturing concerns. So why worry about the relevance of your technology when you can have a printed product that will last forever?
The third reason photos are essential is the ability to share them. After all, the main reason we go through the trouble of capturing and preserving our memories as photos is to be able to share them later. Not only with ourselves but our family, friends, and dear ones as well. Yet, here, too, is why it's important to emphasize “pictures” over “images.”
Pictures are often associated with the tangible object depicting a scene, while an image is perceived as a file showing a scene in a digital format. The difference is tangible versus digital. The key to sharing is accessibility; nothing is more accessible than opening a printed photo album or photo book. Photos are readily available to all people, no matter their age or capabilities.
Moreover, high-quality printed products are longer-lasting compared to digital. Just ask yourself, how long before your hard drive, USB, or file-sharing site becomes obsolete, closes down, or starts charging you for its service? On the other hand, I still have photos of my ancestors who crossed the Atlantic from Ukraine to America – photos taken in the 19th century!
